Telugu cinema posters for sale: Veer Abhimanyu (1965).
Featured here is an actual surviving old Telugu movie poster of the 1965 mythological film directed by V. Madhusudhana Rao that featured the biggest superstar of the south Indian film industry, N.T. Rama Rao along with Sobhan Babu in lead roles.
Released under the Rajlakshmi Productions banner, Veer Abhimanyu (1965) was a mythological film based on the story of one of the oldest and most revered Hindu epics, the Mahabharata.
Sobhan Babu starred in the film in the titular role of Abhimanyu, while N.T. Rama Rao played the role of Lord Krishna. Kanta Rao, Kanchana, Satyanarayana, Rajanala, Pehalwan Kanta Rao and Varalaxmi played supporting roles in Veer Abhimanyu (1965).
Like most of NTR’s old movies, Veer Abhimanyu (1965) was a super hit at the box office and ran successfully for 100 days in South Indian theaters.
Printed and circulated during the first release of the film in theaters (somewhere in 1965), this rare Telugu cinema poster was printed for publicity of the film but never ended up being used.
This vintage Veer Abhimanyu poster was originally designed in hand painted oil on canvas format by Bombay based Bollywood poster painter Vishnu. The printed signature of the artist is seen on the bottom left of this mythological movie poster.
Superstar N.T. Rama Rao is seen in his character of Lord Krishna in a striking illustration on the left of this Telugu cinema poster. He is depicted wearing a peacock feather on the top of his golden crown and holding a flute in his hand. Actor Sobhan Babu is seen alongside in his character of Abhimanyu, taking aim from his bow. The poster depicts Lord Krishna directing Abhimanyu on the battleground (Kurukshetra).
The background of this NTR movie poster captures an emotional scene of brave Abhimanyu’s martyrdom. Lettering used in this Telugu cinema poster is entirely in Devanagari Hindi, with only the title translated to English on the top.
The soundtrack album of Veer Abhimanyu (1965) was composed by Prem Dhawan. The film was simultaneously shot in Tamil and dubbed and released in Hindi as well.
