Movie posters India for sale: Chalte Chalte (1976).
Featured here is an original vintage Bollywood poster of the 1976 Hindi musical romantic thriller directed by Sunder Dar that starred Dev Anand’s nephew Bhisham Kohli (screen name Vishal Anand), Simi Garewal, Nazneen and Shreeram Lagoo in key roles.
The film was produced by Bhisham Kohli. Actress Nazneen, best known for playing the role of “Kunti” (mother of the Pandavas) in BR Chopra’s Mahabharata, appeared in a bikini in Chalte Chalte.
The soundtrack album of Chalte Chalte was composed by noted music director Bappi Lahiri, who got his first big break in Bollywood with the film. It featured one of the all time greatest hit songs of Kishore Kumar, “Chalte Chalte, Mere Ye Geet Yaad Rakhna, Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna” making this vintage Bollywood poster, highly collectible!
Printed and circulated during the debut release of the film in theaters (somewhere in 1976), this vintage movie poster India print was made for publicity of the film but never ended up being used.
This old Bollywood poster was originally designed in hand painted format using an oil on canvas medium by one of the leading Bollywood poster design studios in Bombay, Art View.
Stunning hand painted figures of lead actors Vishal Anand and Nazneen are seen prominently in this Chalte Chalte poster. Nazneen is seen wearing a two piece bikni, very risque for the time period the film was released in. She is seen on her knees holding on to the hand of Vijay Anand, who appears to be walking away form her. He appears barefoot, dressed in a geometric pattern hippie shirt tied to his waist in this rare Bollywood poster.
A suggestion of waves is seen hand painted in the distance behind them. The title of the film appears in red in English at the bottom in a very catchy font and again in green in Devanagari Hindi on the top.
After the stellar success of the title song, “Chalte Chalte, Mere Ye Geet Yaad Rakhna, Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna,” Bappi Lahiri went on to compose music for blockbuster films such as Disco Dancer and Namak Halaal.
