Gadar Ek Prem Katha poster for sale! Featured here is an original classic Bollywood movie poster of the blockbuster Hindi film, Gadar: Ek Prem Katha (2001).
This is an actual surviving original Gadar Ek Prem Katha movie poster of the 2001 Hindi romantic action film directed by Anil Sharma that was set during the partition of India in 1947. The film starred Sunny Deol and Amisha Patel in lead roles alongside Amrish Puri and Lillete Dubey.
At the time of it’s release, Gadar: Ek Prem Katha smashed all box office collection records becoming the highest grossing Indian film of all time, surpassing the record of Hum Aapke Hain Koun..! set in 1994.
Gadar: Ek Prem Katha is the second most watched Hindi film in India since the 1990s, making this Sunny Deol film poster highly collectible!
Printed and circulated during the original first release of the film (somewhere in 2001), this Gadar Ek Prem Katha poster was originally designed for publicity of the film but never ended up being used.
A large close up of actor Sunny Deol is seen on the top of this Gadar Ek Prem Katha movie poster. Another smaller still photograph pf the actor holding an oil lantern in one hand and a sword in the other is seen below. The line on the top of this Bollywood poster reads, “A saga of love during Indo-Pak partition,” revealing the plot of the film. Actress Ameesha Patel is seen in a smaller still photograph at the bottom of this Gadar Ek Prem Katha poster. The typography used in the title of this Bollywood poster is both in English as well as Devanagari Hindi, with the latter being prominently used.
Gadar recorded more than 50 million footfalls in the country and grossed over ₹1.33 billion worldwide during its release. The film has achieved cult status as an “All time blockbuster” and still ranks among the top three Indian films in terms of all time highest footfalls achieved since 1990s.
The music of Gadar: Ek Prem Katha was composed by Uttam Singh and the lyrics were written by Anand Bakshi. The soundtrack of the film was a runaway success, selling over 2.5 million copies. Songs like “Main Nikla Gaddi Leke” and “Udja Kale Kawan” sung by Udit Narayan are fondly remembered and played till today.
Loosely based on the life of Boota Singh, Gadar was released in the same year as Ashutosh Gowariker’s sports drama Lagaan. The film is fondly remembered for an iconic scene where actor Sunny Deol pulls a hand pump out of the ground. A sequel titled Gadar 2: The Katha Continues, was announced in 2021 starring Sunny Deol, Ameesha Patel and Utkarsh Sharma in lead roles. The sequel is slated to release in 2022.
