This is an actual surviving original Sunny Deol film poster of the 1990 Hindi action drama that was produced by Dharmendra and directed by Rajkumar Santoshi. The film starred Sunny Deol and Meenakshi Seshadri in lead roles alongside Raj Babbar, Amrish Puri, Moushumi Chatterjee, Om Puri, Kulbhushan Kharbanda, Annu Kapoor, Viju Khote, Sharat Saxena and Sudesh Berry playing supporting roles.

Ghayal marked Rajkumar Santoshi’s directorial debut and was a blockbuster hit. The film catapulted actor Sunny Deol to superstardom and made him the leading action star of the 1990s, making this Ghayal poster, highly collectible.

Printed and circulated during the Dolby Digital re-release of the film (somewhere in 2000s), this Ghayal poster was originally designed for publicity of the film but never ended up being used.

Ghayal bagged a record 7 Filmfare Awards, most notably Best Actor (Sunny Deol), Best Film and Best Director, besides also winning two National Film Awards. Over the years, the film has been elevated to the status of a cult classic of the 1990s, making this Sunny Deol film poster, a very rare find.

The action star is seen in chains in a dramatic still photograph in this Sunny Deol old movie poster. The action packed revenge plot of the film is summarized in a sub title that reads, “The Wounded Who Tore The World Apart.”

The re-release of the film is announced on the top of this Ghayal poster with a line that reads, “Remixed in Dolby Digital.” The film’s stellar success is announced on the left of this Sunny Deol film poster as, “Winner Of Two National Awards” and “Seven Filmfare Awards.” The typography used in the title of this original Bollywood poster appears in 3D font.

The music of Ghayal composed by Bappi Lahiri became very popular during the film’s release, with a couple of songs still fondly recalled and played today, namely “Sochana Kya Jo Bhi Hoga Dekha Jayega” sung by Kumar Sanu and Asha Bhosle (inspired from Lambada by Kaoma) and “Pyar Tum Mujhse Karti Ho, Don’t Say No” sung by Amit Kumar.

Ghayal was remade in Tamil as Bharathan in 1992, in Telugu as Gamyam in 1998 and in Kannada as Vishwa. A sequel titled, “Ghayal: Once Again” was released in 2016.
