Karan Arjun original poster for sale.
Featured here is an actual surviving original Bollywood poster of the 1995 cult classic Hindi film that featured two of the biggest superstars of Bollywood, Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan together in double roles.
Produced and directed by Rakesh Roshan, Karan Arjun (1995) also starred Kajol, Mamta Kulkarni, Raakhee, Amrish Puri, Johnny Lever, Ranjeet, Ashok Saraf, Dinesh Hingoo, Raj Kishore, Anil Nagrath, Kishore Bhanushali and Suresh Chatwal in supporting roles, while Ila Arun and Salim Khan made guest appearances in the film.
Rakesh Roshan son’s Hrithik Roshan was the assistant director of Karan Arjun (1995) – his first major contribution to Bollywood. The film was the second biggest hit of the year 1995 after Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (1995) and starred the King Khans of Bollywood together, making this classic Bollywood poster, highly collectible!
Karan Arjun (1995) told the story of brothers Karan (Salman Khan) and Arjun (Shah Rukh Khan) who are the children of a poor widow called Durga (Raakhee Gulzar). Durga’s husband Thakur was the son of a wealthy landlord called Thakur Sangram Singh who married her against his father’s wishes. To prevent Thakur from claiming the family estate, his evil brother Thakur Durjan Singh (Amrish Puri) murdered him. When Thakur Sangram Singh wills his estate to Karan and Arjun, Thakur Durjan Singh murders them as well. Durga is devastated and prays fervently to goddess Kali for justice. Her prayers are answered and Karan and Arjun, her two sons, are reincarnated as Ajay and Vijay respectively. Two decades later, Ajay and Vijay unite to avenge Durga and kill Thakur Durjan Singh, putting an end to his evil.
Actress Raakhee’s iconic dialogue from the film, “Mere Karan Arjun Aayenge” (My Karan Arjun Will Come) has become etched into Bollywood history and is the subject of countless spoofs and memes.
Printed and circulated during the initial first release of the film (somewhere in 1995), this Karan Arjun movie poster was originally designed for publicity of the film but never ended up being used.
This Karan Arjun original poster shows Salman Khan in his classic bare chested pose without his shirt and flexing his muscles. A large close up of actor Shahrukh Khan is seen alongside. The reincarnation based theme of the film is given away with a summary on the top of this Bollywood poster that reads, “And They Returned to Take Revenge.”
The blockbuster soundtrack album of Karan Arjun (1995) was composed by Rajesh Roshan. Songs from the film such as “Jaati Hoon Mein Jaldi Hai Kya” sung by Kumar Sanu & Alka Yagnik, “Yeh Bandhan Toh Pyar Ka Bandhan Hai” sung by Udit Narayan, Kumar Sanu & Alka Yagnik, “Bhangra Paale Aaja Aaja” sung by Mohammed Aziz, Sudesh Bhosle & Sadhana Sargam, “Jai Maa Kali” sung by Kumar Sanu, Alka Yagnik & Amrish Puri, as well as “Gup Chup Gup Chup” sung by Alka Yagnik & Ila Arun became instant hits and are still played today.
