Featured here is an original vintage Bollywood movie poster of the old romantic Hindi musical, Palki (1967).

Directed by Mahesh Kaul and S.U. Sunny, the film starred Waheeda Rehman and Rajendra Kumar in key roles. Johnny Walker, Rehman, Nasir Hussain and Manmohan Krishna played supporting roles in the film.

Printed and circulated during the theatrical run of the film (somewhere in the 1970s), this black and white Bollywood movie poster was printed for publicity of the film but never ended up being used.

This Palki movie poster was originally designed using photographic collage techniques. A stunning black and white photograph of actress Waheeda Rehman playing a newly married bride is seen at the top of this old Bollywood poster. A bust sized photograph of Rajendra Kumar is seen alongside. An announcement on the top of this old black and white Bollywood movie poster reads, “Now Running” in Devanagari Hindi.

Typography used in this Palki poster is entirely in Devanagari Hindi, with a translation of the title in English seen at the bottom.

The soundtrack album of Palki was composed by Naushad and had some memorable songs such as “Aye Shaher-e-Lucknow Tujhe Mera Salaam Hai” sung by Mohammed Rafi.

The film credits two directors as S.U. Sunny died shortly after production of Palki had started, post which Mahesh Kaul took up direction of the film.
