Vintage style movie posters for sale: Pugree (1948).
This is an actual surviving original vintage Bollywood poster of the old 1948 classic black and white Hindi film directed by Anant Thakur and produced by Prem Narayan Arora that starred Kamini Kaushal, Wasti, Shashikala, Dikshit, Gope, Protima Devi and Ram Awtar in key roles.
The memorable comedy was released under the All India Pictures banner and distributed by Mudnaney Film Service.
Printed and circulated during a subsequent theatrical release run of the film (somewhere in the 1960s), this vintage style movie poster was designed for publicity of the film but never ended up being used.
This old Bollywood poster was originally designed in hand painted oil on canvas format by a Bollywood poster design studio in Bombay. The signature of Bollywood poster artist J.V. Nachankar is seen on the bottom right.
Lead actress Kamini Kaushal is seen in a stunning large hand painted portrait prominently in this Pugree poster. Portraits of Wasti and Dikshit are seen alongside, while comedian Gope is seen smoking a cigarette below. A pleasing full length illustration of supporting actress Shashikala appears at the bottom of this vintage style movie poster.
Green, blue and yellow hues are seen on the top half of the poster, while the bottom remains a minimal and simplistic white. The English title is seen in white encased inside a red box, while the Devanagari Hindi title below is seen in yellow.
Typography used in this vintage style movie poster is primarily in English, with a translation of the title seen in Devanagari Hindi as well.
The soundtrack album of Pugree (1948) was composed by Ghulam Mohammed.
