Written and directed by Sukumar, Pushpa: The Rise starred Allu Arjun in the titular character opposite Rashmika Mandanna. Fahadh Faasil made his Telugu debut in the film.
Jagadeesh Prathap Bandari, Sunil, Raj Tirandasu, Rao Ramesh, Dhananjaya, Anasuya Bharadwaj, Ajay and Ajay Ghosh played supporting roles in the film.
The first installment in a two part series, Pushpa told the story of the meteoric rise of a daily wage laborer called Pushpa Raj in the criminal world of red sandalwood smuggling.
