Manoj Kumar poster for sale: Shor (1972).
Featured here is an original vintage Bollywood movie poster of the old 1972 Hindi film written, produced, edited and directed by Manoj Kumar that starred him in the lead role along with Jaya Bhaduri and Prem Nath.
Shor (1972) was a hit Bollywood musical drama that also starred Kamini Kaushal, Asrani, Manmohan and Krishan Dhawan in supporting roles. Nanda, Madan Puri and Naaz made guest appearances in the film.
Printed and circulated during the theatrical run of the film in Delhi (somewhere in the late 1970s), this Manoj Kumar poster was printed for publicity of the film but never ended up being used.
This old cinema poster was originally hand drawn on canvas by a Bollywood poster design studio in Delhi. The printed signature of Bollywood poster designer Amar is seen on the top right.
Actor Manoj Kumar appears in a stunning hand drawn illustration on the left of this Shor movie poster. Actress Jaya Bhaduri is seen whistling alongside in an illustrated portrait taken from the song, “Macha Diya Shor.”
Supporting actor Prem Nath, who plays the role of a Pathan in the film, is seen in a smaller hand painted portrait at the bottom left of this Manoj Kumar poster. A fight scene is illustrated in a semi abstract rendition at the bottom, with fireworks surrounding it.
Typography used in this hand painted Bollywood poster is entirely in Devanagari Hindi. The title at the top is painted in red with a yellow border. Lyrics of three hit songs from the film are arranged inside a rainbow on the top of this Shor movie poster, namely, “Ek Pyar Ka Nagma Hai, Maujon Ki Rawani Hai” (It’s a Song of Love, A Journey of Fun), “Jeevan Chalne Ka Naam, Chalte Raho Subah Shaam” (Life is About Walking, Keep Walking Morning and Evening) and “Paani Re Paani Tera Rang Kaisa, Jisme Mila Do Lagey Us Jaisa” (Water O Water What Is Your Color Like? Whatever It Is Mixed In, It Looks Just Like That).
The soundtrack album of Shor was composed by the hit duo Laxmikant-Pyarelal and had some all time classics such as “Ek Pyar Ka Nagma Hai” sung by Lata Mangeshkar. The film was remade in Tamil as Osai (1984).
