Rajinikanth movie poster for sale: Uttar Dakshin (1987).
Featured here is an actual surviving original Bollywood poster of the classic 1987 Hindi action drama directed by Prabhat Khanna that starred Rajinikanth, Jackie Shroff and Madhuri Dixit in lead roles.
The story of Uttar Dakshin (1987) was written by Subhash Ghai and it borrowed heavily from Yash Chopra’s blockbuster, Trishul (1978). Jackie Shroff played Amitabh Bachchan’s role seeking revenge from his father (plauyed by Kulbhushan Kharbanda) for deserting his mother and remarrying a rich woman, while Rajinikanth played his step brother.
Produced by Ashok Khanna and released under the Deepali Arts banner, Uttar Dakshin (1987) also starred Anupam Kher, Bharathi, Kulbhushan Kharbanda, Paresh Rawal, Satish Kaushik, Lalita Pawar, Seema Deo, Beena Banerjee, Sudhir and Bob Christo in supporting roles.
Printed and circulated during the first release of the film in theaters (somewhere in 1987), this old Bollywood poster was designed for publicity of the film but never ended up being used.
This classic Rajinikanth movie poster was originally designed using photographic collage techniques by master calendar artist, J.P. Singhal of Signhals Studio fame and features stunning artwork.
A striking still photograph of actress Madhuri Dixit wearing a derby hat is see on the top of this Uttar Dakshin poster. She is seen flanked by actors Jackie Shroff and Rajinikanth on the left and right respectively. The biggest legend of south Indian cinema is seen holding a gun in his hand.
Typography used in this old Rajinikanth movie poster is entirely in English. The film’s title is seen illustrated in a stunning 3D font in yellow, orange and green, standing out against a black background.
The soundtrack album of Uttar Dakshin (1987) was composed by hit duo Laxmikant-Pyarelal, while lyrics were written by Anand Bakshi. It featured the super hit song, “Kis Naam Se Tujhko Yaad Karoon” sung by Mohammed Aziz.
