Bharosa poster for sale.
Featured here is a rare original vintage Bollywood poster of the old 1963 black and white Hindi film directed by K. Shankar that starred one of the most influential filmmakers in Indian cinema, Guru Dutt opposite Asha Parekh.
Produced by N. Vasudeva Menon under his Vasu Films (Madras) banner, Bharosa (1963) also starred Mehmood, Shubha Khote, Om Prakash, Kanhaiyalal, Nana Palsikar, Neena, Sulochana Chatterjee and Lalita Pawar in supporting roles.
Printed and circulated during a subsequent theatrical run of the film (somewhere in the late 1960s), this Guru Dutt poster was originally designed for publicity of the film in northern India but never ended up being used.
Originally designed in hand painted oil on canvas format by a Bollywood poster art studio in Delhi, the printed signature of poster painter B.R. Gulati is seen on the bottom right of this vintage Bharosa poster.
A striking overpainted side profile of Guru Dutt is seen on the left of this vintage Bollywood poster. Set against a bright yellow background, the illustration stands out. Actress Asha Parekh is depicted in a brilliant overpainted illustration alongside on the right wearing ethnic jewelry and a string of Jasmine flowers in her hair.
Mehmood and Shubha Khote are seen romancing each other in an overpainted illustration below taken from the song, “Kabhi Dushmani, Kabhi Dosti” sung by Mohammed Rafi and Asha Bhosle. Actor Shivraj is seen walking on crutches on the left of this Bharosa poster.
The soundtrack album of Bharosa (1963) was composed by Ravi, while lyrics were written by Rajendra Krishan. It is fondly remembered for the timeless classic, “Woh Dil Kahan Se Laun Teri Yaad Jo Bhula De” sung by melody queen Lata Mangeshkar. “Yeh Jhuke Jhuke Naina” sung by Mohammed Rafi was another very popular track from the film.
