Aamir Khan film poster of the cult Hindi movie, Dangal (2016) for sale.
This is an actual surviving original Dangal poster of the blockbuster 2016 biographical sports drama directed by Nitesh Tiwari that starred Aamir Khan, Sakshi Tanwar, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Zaira Wasim, Sanya Malhotra, Suhani Bhatnagar and Aparshakti Khurana in prominent roles.
Based on the real life inspirational story of the Phogat family, Aamir Khan starred in the film as Mahavir Singh Phogat, a wrestler who trained his daughters Geeta Phogat and Babita Kumari to become India’s first world-class female wrestlers.
The film smashed all existing records, becoming the highest-grossing Indian film ever, the fifth highest grossing non-English film ever, and the highest-grossing sports film worldwide, making this Dangal movie Aamir Khan poster, highly collectible.
Printed and circulated prior to the original first release of the film in 2016, this poster of Dangal movie was printed for publicity of the film but never ended up being used.
Superstar Aamir Khan is seen in his character dressed as a Haryanvi Jat, posing with his two daughters who appear in both their younger as well as older avatars in this poster of Dangal film. The title of the film appears in a solid white font at the bottom of this Aamir Khan Dangal poster.
Dangal championed the cause of “Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao” – a social campaign run by the Government of India to reduce selective abortion of girls and to educate them. The strong girl child empowerment theme of the film is announced with a dialogue printed on the top of this Dangal poster in Hindi that reads, “Are my girls less than boys?”
Dangal was co-produced by Aamir Khan, under his studio Aamir Khan Productions along with UTV Motion Pictures and Walt Disney Pictures India. The film bagged numerous awards, including four Filmfare awards, a National Film Award, Best Asian Film award at Australia’s AACTA Awards, 2017’s Best Foreign Film and Top Foreign Actor (for Aamir Khan) from China’s Douban Film Awards and two Jackie Chan Action Movie Awards. Dangal holds the distinction of being watched more than 400 million times on Chinese streaming platforms.
Dangal is the first Indian film to gross $300 million worldwide. It was one of the top 30 highest grossing films of 2016 in the world, the first Indian film to gross over $100 million overseas and the the highest grossing Indian film ever in China (released under the Chinese title “Shuāijiāo ba bàba,” or “Let’s Wrestle, Father.”)
