Dhoom poster for sale.
Featured here is an actual surviving original Bollywood movie poster of the 2004 Hindi action thriller directed by Sanjay Gadhvi that starred an ensemble cast comprising Abhishek Bachchan, John Abraham, Uday Chopra, Esha Deol and Rimi Sen in key roles.
Produced and co-written by Aditya Chopra, Dhoom (2004) told the story of a gang of motorcycle riding thieves led by Kabir (John Abraham), who commit a string of robberies in Mumbai. Police officer Jai Dixit (Abhishek Bachchan) and motorcycle dealer Ali Akbar Fateh Khan (Uday Chopra) are assigned to the case of stopping Kabir and his gang.
Printed and circulated during the debut of the film in theaters (somewhere in 2004), this Dhoom poster was designed for publicity of the film but never ended up being used.
Lead actors Abhishek Bachchan and John Abraham are seen in large symmetrically arranged close ups on the left and right respectively, while Uday Chopra is seen at the center wearing a motorcycle leather jacket. Two super bikes are seen in the background, with a cloudy blue sky above.
Typography used in this Dhoom movie poster is entirely in English, except for a translation of the title in Devanagari Hindi on the bottom right. The main English title appears in a metallic embossed font at the bottom.
The soundtrack album of Dhoom (2004) was composed by by Pritam, while lyrics were written by Sameer. It was a blockbuster hit upon it’s release, with the title track, “Dhoom Dhoom” sung by Thai singer and actress Tata Young along with “Dhoom Machale” sung by Sunidhi Chauhan & Shankar Mahadevan remaining popular till date. The album cemented music composer Pritam’s position in the film industry, jump starting his illustrious career.
The success of Dhoom (2004) spawned a franchise with sequels titled Dhoom 2 (2006) and Dhoom 3 (2013).
