Gangs of Wasseypur poster for sale.
This is an actual surviving original Bollywood movie poster of the 2012 cult Hindi crime drama co-written and directed by Anurag Kashyap.
A fictional story based on warring coal mafia families in Dhanbad, Gangs of Wasseypur starred Manoj Bajpai, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Pankaj Tripathi, Richa Chadda, Huma Qureshi and Tigmanshu Dhulia in key roles. Reema Sen, Piyush Mishra, Vineet Kumar Singh, Rajkummar Rao, Jaideep Ahlawat and Zeishan Quadri played supporting roles in the film. Yashpal Sharma and Vicky Kaushal had guest appearances in the film.
With a total run time of over 5 hours, the film was split into two parts, Gangs of Wasseypur – Part 1 and Gangs of Wasseypur Part 2.
In 2019, The Guardian listed Gangs of Wasseypur at the 59th spot on the list of 100 greatest movies of the 21st century. The film bagged numerous awards at several award functions, including Filmfare Awards, Asia-Pacific Film Festival, National Film Awards and IIFA. Gangs of Wasseypur was screened in its entirety (both parts back to back) at the 2012 Cannes Directors’ Fortnight, becoming the only Hindi-language films to achieve this feat. It was also screened at the Sundance Film Festival in January 2013.
This epic crime drama is widely regarded as one of the finest films ever made in Indian cinema, making this Gangs of Wasseypur poster, highly collectible!
Printed and circulated during the debut of the film in theaters (somewhere in 2012), this Gangs of Wasseypur poster was designed for publicity of the film but never ended up being used.
Lead actor Manoj Bajpai is seen pointing a pistol in this original Bollywood poster. An assassination is seen unfolding in the background. Actress Reema Sen is seen in a suggestive silhouette showing her back, seemingly distracting Manoj Bajpai. An announcement at the center of this Gangs of Wasseypur poster reads, “I am a Hunter … Dekho Meri Gun! (See My Gun).” The release date of the film, 22nd June is mentioned as well.
Typography used in this Gangs of Wasseypur poster is entirely in English except for the word Wasseypur, which appears in Devanagari Hindi at the top.
The soundtrack album of Gangs of Wasseypur was composed and co-written by Piyush Mishra along with Sneha Khanwalkar. Heavily influenced by traditional Indian folk songs, the album became a rage throughout the nation at the time of the film’s release. Songs like “Womaniya” and “Keh Ke Lunga” are remembered and played till today.
