An announcement on the top of this Bollywood poster reads, “Iss Diwali … Todenge Taale Indiawaale (English translation: This Diwali … Indians Will Break Locks).

The soundtrack album for Happy New Year was composed by Vishal-Shekhar. Songs from the film, most notably “Indiawaale” are fondly remembered and played at sporting as well as patriotic events across the world. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has even included the film’s script in their library.
