Jai Shiv Shankar poster for sale: Unreleased Bollywood movie.
Featured here is an actual surviving original Bollywood poster of the old 1990 unreleased Hindi film written and directed by S.A. Chandrashekhar that starred Rajesh Khanna as “Jai,” Jeetendra as “Shiv” and Chunky Pandey as “Shankar.”
Produced by the first superstar of Indian cinema, Rajesh Khanna, Jai Shiv Shankar (1990) also starred Dimple Kapadia, Poonam Dhillon and Sangeeta Bijlani as the love interests of the three titular characters respectively, while Nirupa Roy, A.K. Hangal, Shafi Inamdar and Om Shivpuri played supporting roles.
First announced in 1987, Jai Shiv Shankar was completed and ready for release in 1990. However, the film was never released as no distributor was willing to take up the film for the amount demanded by superstar Rajesh Khanna, who’s popularity had dwindled significantly by 1990. As a result, the film remains unreleased till date.
Jai Shiv Shankar (1990) is the first and only Indian film that starred real life couple, Rajesh Khanna and Dimple Kapadia together, making this unreleased Bollywood movies poster, highly collectible!
The film explored the story of three contrasting characters – A fearless journalist played by Rajesh Khanna (Jai), an angry young man played by Jeetendra (Shiv) and a man misled in the ways of life played by Chunky Pandey (Shankar). The trio team up to fight corruption in society and the justice system.
Printed and circulated ahead of the film’s release (somewhere in 1990), this Jai Shiv Shankar poster was designed for publicity of the film but never ended up being used.
Originally designed in mixed media format using a combination of still photographic collage and over painting techniques, this unreleased Bollywood movies poster was created by poster artist Chandrakant of Studio Chandrakant fame.
Two stunning side profile file close up photos of real life couple Rajesh Khanna and Dimple Kapadia are seen facing each other. Both stills are over painted to capture the emotion of their characters. A torn newspaper is seen in the background below, with a very creatively designed title that appears in a red, yellow and black combination in 3D font below. A symbol is used to represent each of the three characters, comprising a pen, a rifle and a sword respectively.
Typography used in this Jai Shiv Shankar poster is primarily in English, with a translation of the title appearing in Devanagari Hindi as well.
The soundtrack album of Jai Shiv Shankar (1990) was composed by music maestro R.D. Burman, while lyrics were written by Anand Bakshi.
