Old Bollywood movie posters rare find! Vintage original movie poster of the hit Hindi romance, Love In Simla (1960) for sale.
This is an actual surviving original Bollywood movie poster of the 1960 romantic Hindi film that featured Joy Mukherjee and Sadhana in lead roles. Shobhana Samarth and Durga Khote played supporting roles in the film.
Directed by R. K. Nayyar, Love In Simla was a musical comedy inspired by the 1938 English film, Jane Steps Out. The film’s story is set in the hill station “Shimla,” which is a popular holiday destination in Himachal Pradesh, India.
Love In Simla was actress Sadhana’s first lead role in a Hindi film and catapulted her to stardom, making this old Bollywood movie poster highly collectible.
Printed and circulated during the first release of the film (somewhere in 1960), this Love In Shimla movie poster was printed for publicity of the film but never ended up being used.
This old Bollywood movie poster was originally designed in hand painted oil on canvas format by a poster design studio in Bombay. Hand painted portraits of Joy Mukherjee and Sadhana are seen prominently in the poster set against a picturesque backdrop of Shimla. Actress Sadhana is depicted wearing a bullet bra in this Love In Shimla movie poster.
The lead couple is seen dancing and singing on a snowy mountain in a smaller hand painted avatar in the background of this old Bollywood poster. The entire typography used in this vintage Bollywood poster is in English except for a translation of the title into Devanagari Hindi that appears on the top. The title of the film is seen hand painted in striking red font with a yellow border, giving it an extremely eye catching appeal.
Love In Simla was released in 1963 in Soviet Union. The film witnessed over 35 million viewers, making it one of the top 20 most successful Indian films to be released in Soviet Union.
