Bollywood music poster: Pyar Ka Sawan (1991).
Featured here is an actual surviving original Bollywood poster of the 1991 musical Hindi romance written, produced and directed by Kanak Mishra that starred Arun Govil, Debashree Roy and Sadhana Singh in key roles.
Singing star Anup Jalota also starred in this old Bollywood film, playing the role of a classical singer, along with Pradeep Kumar, Kumud Bole, Goga Kapoor, Suresh Chawla, Ram Mohan, Mona Harve and Shboha Ram Pandey in supporting roles. Baba Pagal Das made a special appearance in Pyar Ka Sawan (1991).
Arun Govil became the biggest star of Indian television after playing the role of Lord Ram in the unforgettable Ramayan (1987) series and appeared in several films subsequently.
Printed and circulated during a subsequent release of the film in theaters (somewhere in the early 1990s), this Pyar Ka Sawan poster was originally designed for publicity of the film in north Indian theaters but never ended up being used.
This old Bollywood music poster was originally designed using photographic collage techniques by a movie poster design studio in Delhi. A stunning dancing photo of actress Sadhana Singh is seen encased at the center of this Pyar Ka Sawan movie poster inside what appears to be the shape of a door frame. The entire background is a shade of sky blue.
Pyar Ka Sawan (1991) featured a significant number of actors from Uttar Pradesh, as a result of which the film was declared tax free by the state government. This reduced ticket prices and made the film more affordable for the public. The tax free status of the film is announced on the top to draw in audiences.
Typography used in this vintage Bollywood music poster is entirely in Devanagari Hindi. The title is seen in a 3D styled signboard font, standing out in red with a black border.
An empty white strip at the bottom has been intentionally added to allow cinemas to write down their names and show timings, allowing for personalization of the poster.
The soundtrack album of Pyar Ka Sawan (1991) was written and composed by Ravindra Jain. It is fondly remembered for the classical devotional song, “Jo Baithe Charano Mein” sung by Anup Jalota and Yesudas.
