Rocket Singh poster for sale.
Featured here is an actual surviving original Bollywood poster of the old 2009 comedy Hindi film directed by Shimit Amin that starred Ranbir Kapoor in the titular role.
Produced by Aditya Chopra under the Yash Raj Films banner, Rocket Singh: Salesman of the Year (2009) also starred Gauhar Khan, Shazahn Padamsee, Prem Chopra, D. Santosh, Naveen Kaushik and Manish Chaudhari in supporting roles.
The film told the story of Harpreet Singh Bedi (Ranbir Kapoor), who is a graduate with a below average percentage. He finds employment with a large corporate computer assembly and service firm called AYS, in the capacity of a salesman. Harpreet quickly becomes a victim of corporate politics as well as dishonest practices and tactics employed both inside and outside the company. He decides to launch his own parallel business discreetly from within AYS and calls it Rocket Sales Corporation. Harpreet makes software operator Girish “Giri” Reddy (D. Santosh), tea server Chotelal Mishra and receptionist Koena Shaikh (Gauahar Khan) partners in the firm. Working nights from the AYS office, Rocket Sales Corporation becomes everything AYS never was and begins to offer exceptional service to it’s customers. They begin to target the dissatisfied customer base of AYS, turning them into happy customers of Rocket Sales Corporation. However, the dream run finally ends when they are caught by the firm’s MD Sunil Puri (Manish Chaudhari) and fired.
Thanks to his stellar performance in the film, Ranbir Kapoor won Best Actor (Critics) at the 55th Filmfare Awards, making this Rocket Singh poster, highly collectible!
Printed and circulated during the first release of the film in theaters (somewhere in 2009), this original Bollywood poster was printed for publicity of the film but never ended up being used.
Superstar Ranbir Kapoor is seen in a striking still photo holding out a business card. The title as well as the credits of the film appear as text on the visiting card. A paper rocket is seen flying away behind him, against a pleasing, minimal sky blue background.
Typography used in this original Rocket Singh poster is entirely in English.
The soundtrack album of Rocket Singh: Salesman of the Year (2009) was composed by duo Salim–Sulaiman, while lyrics were written by Jaideep Sahni. It featured hit songs such as “Pankho Ko Hawa Zara” sung by Salim Merchant and “Pocket Mein Rocket Hai” sung by Benny Dayal & Neeraj Shridhar.
