Aaye Din Bahar Ke poster for sale.
Featured here is an actual surviving vintage Bollywood poster of the old 1966 hit Hindi romance directed by Raghunath Jalani that starred Dharmendra and Asha Parekh in lead roles.
Produced by J. Om Prakash and presented by Filmyug, Aaye Din Bahar Ke (1966) also starred Balraj Sahni, Sulochana Latkar, Nazima, Rajendra Nath, Raj Mehra, Sunder, Leela Mishra, Dulari, Sabita Chatterjee, Madhu Apte, Sarita Devi and C.S. Dubey in supporting roles.
Shot extensively in Darjeeling, Aaye Din Bahar Ke (1966) told the story of a modest hardworking man (Dharmendra) who is appointed tutor to a rich girl (Asha Parekh). The two fall in love and desire to get married. However, their wedding is called off as the girl’s father (Raj Mehra) learns during their engagement that his to be son-in-law is actually the illegitimate child of a judge (Balraj Sahni) – a fact that his single mother (Sulochana Latkar) kept hidden from her son since his birth.
Printed and circulated for a subsequent release of the film (somewhere in the 1970s), this old Bollywood poster was originally designed for publicity of the film in north Indian theaters but never ended up being used.
This Aaye Din Bahar Ke poster was originally designed by a Bollywood poster art studio in Delhi and features an interesting combination of hand painted oil on canvas techniques as well as photographic collage.
Superstar Dharmendra is seen in a stunning hand drawn illustration at the center holding a pistol. Asha Parekh appears alongside at the bottom right in an exploitative portrait that accentuates her cleavage. A smaller portrait of supporting actress Nazima is seen above her. The three portrait arrangement gives away the love triangle plot of the film. Actor Balraj Sahni appears in a smaller hand painted portrait at the bottom left of this vintage Aaye Din Bahar Ke poster.
The lead couple is seen romancing against a picturesque backdrop of the hills of Darjeeling on the top right in an over painted photographic still. A fight scene featuring Dharmendra is seen alongside on the top left, featuring an over painted photo as well.
Typography used in this vintage Bollywood poster is entirely in Devanagari Hindi, with the film’s title appearing in red with a yellow border against a black background.
The soundtrack album of Aaye Din Bahar Ke (1966) was composed by Laxmikant Pyarelal, while lyrics were written by Anand Bakshi. It was a rare gem that had all seven songs become blockbuster hits, namely, “Mere Dushman Tu Meri Dosti Ko Tarse” and “Khudaya Khair” sung by Mohammed Rafi, “Suno Sajna Papihe Ne,” “Mera Mehboob Hai Bemisal,” “Yeh Kali Jab Talak Phool Banke Khile” and “Aye Kash Kisi Deewane Ko” sung by Lata Mangeshkar and “Khat Likh De Sanwariya Ke Naam Babu” sung by Asha Bhosle.
