Bindiya Chamkegi poster for sale.
Featured here is an actual surviving old Bollywood poster of the 1983 Hindi comedy drama co-produced and directed by Tarun Dutt (noted filmmaker Guru Dutt’s son) that starred Rekha in the titular role as “Bindiya” opposite Vinod Mehra.
Co-produced by Arun Dutt, financed by Evershine Builders and released under the Guru Dutt Films banner, Bindiya Chamkegi (1983) also starred Shoma Anand, Amjad Khan, Mazhar Khan, Ravi Khanna, Dina Pathak, Sulochana, Jagdish Raj and Bhagwan Dada in supporting roles. Dhumal, Shekhar Kapur, Johnny Walker, Shubha Khote, Satyendra Kapoor and Jairaj made guest appearances in the film.
Bindiya Chamkegi (1983) told the story of a poor but fearless Tomboy called Bindiya (Rekha) who fights against criminals selling poisonous hooch in her slum. In order to pay for her mother’s medical treatment, she agrees to be a wife-for-hire to a rich businessman (Vinod Mehra) for a sum of ten thousand rupees. The businessman is an alcoholic who has developed a complete hatred for women after being betrayed by his ex-wife. However, his sister (Shoma Anand) refuses to get married unless he changes his mindset about women and remarries first. Wanting to see his sister married and happy, he hires Bindiya to pretend to be his wife.
Printed and circulated during a subsequent release run of the film (somewhere in the late 1980s), this Bindiya Chamkegi poster was originally designed and printed for publicity of the film in north Indian theaters but never ended up being used.
This vintage Rekha poster was originally designed in hand painted oil on canvas format by Rangshala Bollywood poster art studio in Delhi and features quirky artwork.
Actress Rekha is seen in her Tomboy element wielding a lathi (stick) on the top and a knife at the bottom. Actor Vinod Mehra is seen in a close up illustrated portrait holding a pistol on the right and again in a black and white drawing at the center in a fight scene. Amjad Khan who plays an honest inspector in the film is seen in a hand drawn portrait holding a pistol on the top left of this Bindiya Chamkegi poster.
Typography used in this Rekha movie poster is a mix of both Devanagari Hindi as well as English. The title of the film appears in yellow with a red and black border in a 3D font. Background used in this old Bollywood poster is a mix of blue and green.
The soundtrack album of Bindiya Chamkegi (1983) was composed by music maestro R.D. Burman, while lyrics were written by Anjaan. It featured the catchy song, “Baj Gayi Ghanti” sung by Asha Bhosle.
