Bobby film poster for sale.
Featured here is a vintage two sheet Bollywood poster of one of the greatest films ever made in Indian cinema, Bobby (1973).
Produced and directed by the Showman of Indian cinema, Raj Kapoor, this cult Bollywood romance featured Rishi Kapoor and Dimple Kapadia in lead roles. Pran, Prem Nath, Durga Khote, Aruna Irani, Prem Chopra and Farida Jalal played supporting roles in this classic.
Bobby (1973) was a blockbuster hit, owing largely to its pioneering plot that revolved around teenage romance (a taboo at the time of the film’s release). Bobby won numerous awards including the 1974 Filmfare Award for Best Actor (Rishi Kapoor) and Filmfare Award for Best Actress (Dimple Kapadia).
The film is counted as one of the top 20 biggest box office hits of all time in the Soviet Union. It has been ranked consistently as a must-see and one of the greatest in Indian cinema, making this original Bobby film poster, highly collectible!
Printed and circulated during the film’s subsequent screening in south Indian theaters (somewhere in the 1980s), this Bobby film poster was designed and printed for publicity of the film but never ended up being used.
This two sheet Bollywood poster comprises two separate single sheets which when pasted together line up perfectly and form one single poster.
This vintage Bollywood poster was originally designed in photographic collage format by a poster design studio in Madras. The typewritten name of movie poster artist B. Ramesh is seen on the bottom right.
An iconic close up photograph of Rishi Kapoor embracing Dimple Kapadia from behind is seen on the left of this Bobby film poster. A smaller black and white still photo of supporting actor Pran is seen alongside at the bottom.
The young couple is seen again in a romantic pose on the right, with Dimple Kapadia wearing a yellow bikini, which was a rage during the film’s release. A cruise ship is seen on the top right and a Goan beach filled with tourists appears in the background of this original Bobby film poster.
Typography used in this vintage Bollywood poster is in English, with a translation of the title seen in Tamil as well. The main English title of the film appears at the top left in a stunning hand drawn font in red. An announcement on the top reads, “LOVE STORY as Fresh as To-Day of RISHI & DIMPLE.”
Since this old Bollywood poster features the actress in a bikini, a censor approval is seen rubber stamped on the bottom over the actress’ leg.
The soundtrack album of Bobby (1973) was composed by hit duo Laxmikant-Pyarelal and became a rage throughout the nation upon the film’s release. Songs from the film went on to become the greatest ever in Bollywood. Tracks like “Hum Tum Ek Kamre Mein Band Ho,” “Jhoot Bole Kauva Kate,” “Main Shayar To Nahin” & “Na Mangu Sona Chandi” are played till today.
