Chak De poster for sale.
Featured here is a rare original Bollywood poster of the 2007 super hit Hindi sports drama directed by Shimit Amin that starred “King Khan” superstar Shah Rukh Khan in the lead role.
Produced by Aditya Chopra and released under the prestigious Yash Raj Films banner, Chak De! India (2007) also starred Vidya Malvade, Shilpa Shukla, Sagarika Ghatge, Chitrashi Rawat, Vivan Bhatena, Mohit Chauhan, Joyshree Arora, Vibha Chibber and Anaitha Nair in supporting roles.
Written by Jaideep Sahni, Chak De! India (2007) was inspired by the historic win of the Indian women’s hockey team at the 2002 Commonwealth Games. The film featured Shahrukh Khan as “Kabir Khan,” the coach of the Indian women’s hockey team.
Chak De! India (2007) was released worldwide on 10 August 2007, ahead of India’s 60th Independence Day. The film was a super hit at the box office, bagging a number of awards, most notably the National Film Award for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment, making this Chak De poster, highly collectible!
Printed and circulated during the debut release of the film in theaters (somewhere in 2007), this Chak De poster was originally designed for publicity of the film but never ended up being used.
This SRK movie poster features the superstar in a stunning large close up prominently on the top, against a rising sun in the background. The sixteen actresses who portrayed the roles of the players of the Indian women’s hockey team or the “Chak De” girls are seen below against the backdrop of a sports stadium. The film’s title appears at the center in patriotic national flag tricolor in English.
The soundtrack of Chak De! India (2007) composed by Salim-Sulaiman broke all records at the time of its release. Such was it’s influence that the title song “Chak De! India” sung by Sukhwinder Singh has become a national sports anthem and is played at numerous sports events. After India’s World Cup victory in 2011, cricketer Virat Kohli sang “Chak de India” in front of a roaring crowd.
In 2007, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences requested a copy of the film’s script for a place in its Margaret Herrick Library. The film has achieved iconic status and finds a part in Independence Day Film Festivals both locally as well as internationally.
