This is an actual surviving Salman Khan movie poster of the 2010 Hindi action film that featured the superstar in the lead role opposite Sonakshi Sinha. Directed by Abhinav Singh Kashyap in his directorial debut, the film starred Arbaaz Khan, Om Puri, Dimple Kapadia, Vinod Khanna, Anupam Kher, Mahesh Manjrekar, Mahie Gill, Sonu Sood, Tinu Anand and Malaika Arora in supporting roles.
Dabangg marked the debut of actress Sonakshi Sinha and was Arbaaz Khan’s first film as producer. The film was a blockbuster hit, becoming the highest grossing Bollywood film of 2010. Dabangg bagged several awards, most notably the National Film Award for Best Popular Film and six Filmfare Awards, including Best Film and Best Female Debut (Sonakshi Sinha), making this Dabangg poster, highly collectible!
Printed and circulated during the theatrical debut of the film in 2010, this Salman Khan movie poster was designed for publicity of the film but never ended up being used.
Superstar Salman Khan is seen in his “Chulbul Pandey” avatar, wearing his trademark aviator sunglasses. Actress Sonakshi Sinha is seen behind him in this Dabangg poster. The background of this original Bollywood poster resembles an old wall, with graffiti and paan stains visible. A blood splatter is seen on the top of this Dabangg poster, giving away the action plot of the film. Typography used in this poster is in Devanagari Hindi, with an announcement at the bottom that states, “This Eid September 10.”
One of the songs from the film, “Munni Badnaam Hui” became a rage throughout the nation upon the album’s release. Featuring actress Malaika Arora, the song is fondly recalled and played till today. “Tere Mast Mast Do Nain,” “Humka Peeni Hai” and “Hud Hud Dabangg” were three other hit songs from the album.
The stellar success of the film was followed by two sequels: Dabangg 2 (2012) and Dabangg 3 (2019). The film was also remade in Tamil as Osthe and in Telugu as Gabbar Singh.
