This is an actual surviving vintage Bollywood poster of the 1973 Hindi drama that starred Jaya Bachchan and Shatrughan Sinha in lead roles. Directed by M.A. Thirumugam, the film also starred Bindu, Sulochana Latkar and Manmohan in supporting roles.

Printed and circulated during the initial release of the film in theaters (somewhere in the early 1970s), this old Indian cinema posters was originally designed for publicity of the film but never ended up being used.

Gaai Aur Gori was based on the story of a girl named Gauri who has a pet cow. It was a remake of Tamil film Komatha En Kulamatha (1973).

This minimal old Indian cinema poster has been designed using a combination of both hand painted as well as photographic collage techniques. Stunning hand painted typography in red is seen dominating the majority of the space in this poster. A small black and white still photo of actress Jaya Bachchan with her pet cow is seen at the bottom of this Bollywood poster. The background has a soothing shade of green.

With a barcode like border all around, typography used in this Gaai Aur Gori poster is entirely in Gujarati.

The soundtrack album of Gaai Aur Gori was composed by ace music compose duo Laxmikant Pyarelal and lyrics were written by Anand Bakshi. One of the songs from the film, “Gori O Gori Prem Karle” sung by Kishore Kumar became popular at the time of the film’s release.
