Dilip Kumar Saira Banu photo art poster: Gopi (1970) for sale.
This is an actual surviving original vintage Bollywood movie poster of the 1970 Hindi film that featured real life couple, Dilip Kumar and Saira Banu in lead roles.
Directed by A. Bhimsingh, Gopi was a hit Bollywood drama that also starred Pran, Om Prakash, Nirupa Roy, Farida Jalal, Johnny Walker, Mukri, Durga Khote and Lalita Pawar in supporting roles.
Considered as the greatest method actor in Indian cinema and often labeled as “tragedy king,” Dilip Kumar received a Filmfare award nomination for his stellar performance in Gopi (1970), making this old Bollywood poster, highly collectible!
Printed and circulated during a subsequent theatrical release run of the film in Delhi (somewhere in the late 1970s), this Gopi movie poster was originally designed for publicity of the film but never ended up being used.
Originally hand drawn on canvas by a Bollywood poster design studio in Delhi, the printed signature of poster artist Amar is seen on the right center.
This hand drawn Bollywood poster features stunning artwork. A large close up of legend Dilip Kumar is seen illustrated prominently in this Gopi movie poster. Saira Banu is seen alongside in a beautiful illustration holding a clay pot of butter and a spoon in her hands.
The Bollywood poster artist has done an excellent job in capturing smiles from the Dilip Kumar Saira Banu photo used as a reference to create the artwork. Actor Pran is seen on the top right holding a gun, while Om Prakash is seen on the bottom left.
Typography used in this old Bollywood poster is in Devanagari Hindi, with a translation of the title appearing in English as well. The title uses bright contrasting shades of red and yellow in a 3D styled font in it’s main Hindi title to draw the viewer’s attention.
The soundtrack album of Gopi was composed by hit duo Kalyanji-Anandji. It featured memorable songs such as “Sukh Ke Sab Saathi” sung by Mohammed Rafi, “Ramchandra Keh Gaye” sung by Mahendra Kapoor and “Gentleman Gentleman Gentleman” sung by Mahendra Kapoor & Lata Mangeshkar.
Gopi was a remake of Chinnada Gombe (1964) shot in Kannada and Muradan Muthu (1964) shot in Tamil.
