Typography movie posters for sale: Khudgarz (1987).
This is an actual surviving original vintage Bollywood poster of the old 1987 Hindi drama produced and directed by Rakesh Roshan under the Film Kraft banner.
Khudgarz starred Jeetendra, Shatrughan Sinha, Govinda, Bhanupriya, Amrita Singh and Neelam Kothari in lead roles, with a guest appearance from Rishi Kapoor.
This super hit Bollywood movie was based on Jeffrey Archer’s 1979 novel Kane and Abel. Kader Khan, Saeed Jaffrey, Kiran Kumar, Dinesh Hingoo, Satyen Kappu and Mac Mohan played supporting roles in the film.
Printed and circulated during the initial theatrical run of the film (somewhere in the late 1980s), this typography movie poster was originally designed for publicity of the film but never ended up being used.
The soundtrack album of Khudgarz was composed by Rakesh Roshan’s brother, Rajesh Roshan. One of the songs from the film, “Aapke Aa Jane Se” sung by Mohammed Aziz and Sadhana Sargam, and picturized on Govinda and Neelam, became a rage throughout the nation at the time of the film’s release. The song is fondly remembered and played till today, making this typography movie poster, highly collectible!
This Khudgarz movie poster was originally hand painted on canvas by a poster design studio in Kolkata. An announcement on the top in white lettering encased in a black background declares a significant milestone achieved by the film: “Housefull 2nd Week.” Names of the key actors from the film follow below in this vintage typography movie poster.
The entire Bollywood poster is set against a striking red background, giving it a very catchy appearance. The text in white and black stands out in sharp contrast. Typography used in this Khudgarz movie poster is entirely in English with a translation of the title appearing in Devanagari Hindi script as well as Bengali at the bottom.
A small panel has been deliberately left blank at the bottom of this typography movie poster to allow individual theaters to write their show dates and timings manually into the same.
Khudgarz marked the directorial debut of actor Rakesh Roshan and was remade in Telugu as Prana Snehithulu (1988), in Tamil as Annaamalai (1992) and in Odia as Ae Jugara Krushna Sudama (2003).
