Bollywood posters old for sale: Miya Bibi Razi (1960).
This is an actual surviving original vintage Bollywood movie poster of the 1960 black and white Hindi film directed by Jyoti Swaroop that starred comedy king Mehmood along with Kamini Kadam, Shreekant Gaurab, David and Manorama in key roles.
Produced by Mahesh Kaul and Pandit Mukhram Sharma (who also wrote the screenplay), Miya Bibi Razi (1960) also starred Niranjan Sharma, Daisy Irani, Seema Saraf, Sabita Chatterji, Sheela Vaz and Raja Gosavi.
A comedy that revolved around topical subjects such as dowry, love marriage and women empowerment, the film was released under the Anupam Chitra banner, while N.C. Sippy worked as executive producer.
Printed and circulated during the release run of the film in theaters (somewhere in the 1960s), this Miya Bibi Razi poster was originally designed for publicity of the film but never ended up being used.
This Bollywood poster old was originally designed in hand painted oil on canvas format by a Bollywood poster design studio in Bombay. The printed signature of noted Bollywood poster artist Manohar is seen on the bottom right.
Mehmood (shirtless) and Kamini Kadam are seen wearing dog collars and chain leashes in a stunning illustration on the top. This artwork of this vintage Bollywood poster old seems to suggest a bondage/sadomasochism theme at first glance. However, it is representative of parents arranging marriages for their children against their wishes, preferring wealth, status and dowry.
A soothing shade of blue is used on the top, whereas the bottom is minimal white. Typography used in this Bollywood poster old movie is in English, with a translation of the title appearing in Devanagari Hindi as well as in Urdu at the bottom. The title appears in a stunning combination of red and yellow, with hearts and a crescent moon and star drawn into the text.
The soundtrack album of Miya Bibi Razi (1960) was composed by noted music composer S.D. Burman and lyrics were written by Shailendra. The song “Tum Mere Saath Ho” sung by Mohammed Rafi became popular at the time of the film’s release.
