Pardes film poster for sale.
Featured here is an actual surviving original Bollywood poster of the 1997 super hit musical Hindi film co-written, produced and directed by Subhash Ghai that starred “King Khan” superstar Shah Rukh Khan in the lead role opposite debutante actress Mahima Chaudary.
Shot extensively in the US and Canada, Pardes (1997) also starred Apoorva Agnihotri, Alok Nath, Himani Shivpuri, Dina Pathak, Pawan Malhotra and Aditya Narayan in supporting roles. Choreographer Remo D’Souza made an appearance as a backup dancer in the film.
For her stellar performance in Pardes (1997), Mahima Chaudary won Best Female Debut at the 43rd Filmfare Awards. Pardes (1997) is regarded as one of the first major Bollywood movies to have a successful run in USA, making this Shah Rukh Khan poster, highly collectible!
Printed and circulated during the first release of the film in theaters (somewhere in 1997), this Pardes film poster was originally designed for publicity of the film but never ended up being used.
This SRK movie poster features the superstar prominently on the top left in a stunning close up. He is seen wearing his trademark hat, with his face partially hidden behind a violin. Newcomer Mahima Chaudary is seen in a striking photographic still at the bottom in a dancing pose wearing a red Indian dress.
The theme of the film is spelled out visually in this Pardes film poster with the use of two landmarks. San Francisco bridge is placed alongside Shah Rukh Khan, giving away his NRI status. The Taj Mahal appears on the bottom left next to actress Mahima Chaudary suggesting her Desi roots.
Typography used in this old Shah Rukh Khan movies poster is entirely in English, with the title seen in a beautiful embossed 3D font at the bottom.
The soundtrack album of Pardes (1997) was composed by Nadeem Shravan and it became a blockbuster hit upon it’s release. Songs such as “I Love My India,” “Do Dil Mil Rahe Hain,” “Yeh Dil Deewana,” and “Meri Mehbooba” are fondly remembered and played till today.
Following it’s massive success, Pardes (1997) was subsequently remade in Telugu as Pelli Kanuka (1998).
