Classic black and white movie posters for sale: Sanjog (1943).
This is an actual surviving original vintage Bollywood poster of the old pre-independence 1943 classic black and white Hindi film directed by A.R. Kardar and released under the Kardar productions banner that starred Mehtab Modi, Noor Mohammed Charlie and Wasti in key roles.
Ulhas, Anwar Hussain, Rajkumari and Chandabai played supporting roles in this comedy. Sanjog (1943) featured the first king of comedy in Indian cinema, (Noor Mohammed) Charlie, making this classic black and white movie poster for sale, highly collectible!
Printed and circulated during a subsequent theatrical release run of the film (somewhere in the 1960s), this classic black and white movie poster was designed for publicity of the film but never ended up being used.
This vintage Sanjog movie poster was originally designed in hand painted oil on canvas format by a Bollywood poster design studio in Bombay. The signature of Bollywood poster artist J.V. Nachankar is seen on the center right.
Comedy King Noor Mohammed is seen with his trademark Charlie Chaplin mustache in an accurate illustration on the left. Mehtab Modi is seen in a hand painted portrait at the center, while Wasti is seen on the right.
All three hand painted portraits feature a pleasing vintage color scheme. A red border encases the illustration that extends to the bottom. The lettering appears in white, yellow and black against the red background, standing out in contrast.
Typography used in this classic black and white movie poster is primarily in English, with a translation of the title seen at the bottom in both Devanagari Hindi as well as in Urdu.
The soundtrack album of Sanjog (1943) was composed by one of the greatest music directors in Indian cinema, Naushad.
