Balak Dhruv poster for sale.
Featured here is an actual surviving original vintage Bollywood poster of the 1974 spiritual Hindi film directed by Himmat Dave that starred Jayshree Gadkar and Satyajeet Puri in key roles.
Released under the Hadoti Films’ banner, Balak Dhruva (1974) also starred Abhi Bhattacharya, Master Alankar, Bhagwan, S.N. Tripathi, Jeevan, Mahipal and debutante south actress Satyajyoti in supporting roles.
Produced by Shivaji Mane and Kailash Sharma, the story Balak Dhruva (1974) was based on the legendary religious tale of Dhruva. The son of a king, Dhruva renounced his princely life and headed to the forest when he was only five years old, seeking answers from god. Leading his life as an ascetic, Dhruva became an ardent devotee of Lord Vishnu.
Printed and circulated during the first release run of the film in theaters (somewhere in 1974), this Balak Dhruv poster was printed for publicity of the film but never ended up being used.
This spiritual Bollywood movies poster was originally designed in hand painted oil on canvas format by a Bombay based Bollywood poster design studio.
Lord Vishnu’s beloved devotee Dhruva played by Satyajeet Puri (Master Satyajit) is seen seated cross legged in a meditative pose under a tree in a forest. A bright halo representing spiritual enlightenment surrounds his head. Lord Vishnu is seen in an illustration on the top, watching over his beloved devotee.
Typography used in this religious Bollywood movies poster is a combination of English on the top and Devanagari Hindi at the bottom. The English title appears in a striking yellow font on the top of this vintage Bollywood poster, while the Devanagari Hindi title is seen in white standing out against a dark background.
The soundtrack album of Balak Dhruva (1974) was composed by music composer duo Govind-Naresh, while lyrics were written by Madan. It featured memorable devotional songs such as “Hari Sumiran Kar Lije” sung by Mohammed Rafi.
