Ek Baar Kaho poster for sale.
Featured here is an actual surviving original vintage Bollywood poster of the 1980 Hindi drama produced by Tarachand Barjatya and directed by Lekh Tandon that starred Shabana Azmi and Navin Nischol in key roles.
A suspenseful romance, the climax of Ek Baar Kaho (1980) was inspired by the cult Hollywood movie, An Affair to Remember (1957). Madan Puri, Kiran Vairale, Rajendra Nath, Hari Shivdasani, Anil Kapoor, Dilip Dhawan and Suresh Oberoi played supporting roles in the film.
Printed and circulated during the debut release of the film in theaters (somewhere in 1980), this vintage Bollywood poster was originally designed for publicity of the film but never ended up being used.
This Ek Baar Kaho poster was originally designed in hand painted oil on canvas format by one of the leading Bollywood poster artists of his time, V.G. Parchure of Pamart studio.
Master Bollywood poster artist Parchure’s flair over the paintbrush is seen in a stunning close up illustration of Shabana Azmi. The sadness in her eyes has been captured with the expert use of brush strokes and colors. She is seen seated inside a train compartment, while Navin Nischol appears standing outside the window in a realistic rendition.
The artist’s signature is seen in the name of his movie poster design studio at the bottom of this old Bollywood poster.
Typography used in this Ek Baar Kaho poster is entirely in English, with only the titled translated to Devanagari Hindi. The main English title appears in a striking yellow font encased in red.
The soundtrack album of Ek Baar Kaho (1980) was composed by “Disco King” Bappi Lahiri. One of the tracks from the film, “Char Din Ki Zindagi Hai” sung by Yesudas became very popular at the time of it’s release. “Raakh Ke Dher Ne,” a ghazal sung by Jagjit Singh is fondly remembered till date.
