Small movie posters for sale: Lakhon Me Ek (1971).
This is an actual surviving original vintage Bollywood poster of the old 1971 Hindi comedy directed by S.S. Balan that starred Mehmood and Pran in key roles.
Released under the Gemini Pictures banner, Lakhon Me Ek (1971) also starred Ramesh Deo, Nazir Hussain, Mohan Choti, Keshto Mukherjee, David, Mukri, Kanhaiyalal, Jalal Agha, Viju Khote, Aruna Irani, Lalita Pawar, Shubha Khote, Sulochana Chatterjee and Radha Saluja in supporting roles. Madan Puri made a special appearance, while Radha Saluja made her debut in the film.
Printed and circulated during the initial release of the film (somewhere in 1971), this vintage Bollywood poster was originally designed for publicity of the film in theaters but never ended up being used.
This small movie poster was designed using a combination of both photographic collage as well as hand painted oil on canvas techniques by a poster art studio in Madras.
Lead actor Pran is seen prominently dancing on one leg with his hands outstretched at the center of this Lakhon Me Ek poster. He is seen wearing a white dhoti under a lime shirt, with a red scarf tied to his wrist. His brother in the film, comedian Mehmood is seen in a large close up in the background along with actress Radha Saluja.
The entire background is tinted in monotone, in a blue gray color scheme. Actor Nazir Hussain is seen in the background on the left of this small movie poster along with various supporting actors.
Typography used in this vintage Bollywood poster is primarily in Devanagari Hindi, with a translation of the title seen in English and Urdu as well at the bottom. The main Devanagari Hindi title on the top is seen in a striking shade of red, with a yellow border.
The soundtrack album of Lakhon Me Ek (1971) was composed by one of the greatest music composers in Indian cinema, R. D. Burman. It featured the memorable classic, “Chanda O Chanda” sung by both Lata Mangeshkar and Kishore Kumar.
A hilarious song from the film, “Mere Samnewale Kamre Mein Ek Bhade Ka Tattoo Rehta Hai” sung by Asha Bhosle and Manna Dey was a spoof on R. D. Burman’s all time greatest hit, “Mere Samne Wali Khidki Mein” from Padosan (1968).
