Uphaar poster for sale.
Featured here is an actual surviving original Bollywood poster of the old 1971 Hindi film directed by Sudhendu Roy that starred Jaya Bhaduri Bachchan in the lead role.
Produced by Tarachand Barjatya and released under the banner of India’s leading production house, Rajshri Productions, Uphaar (1971) also starred Swarup Dutt, Kamini Kaushal, Leela Mishra and Nana Palsikar in supporting roles.
Selected as India’s submission for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 45th Academy Awards, Uphaar (1971) was an adaption of a short story named “Samapti” (The End) written by nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore. The same short story was earlier adapted into the cult Bengali film Teen Kanya (1961) directed by legendary filmmaker Satyajit Ray.
Printed and circulated during the first release run of the film (somewhere in 1971), this old Bollywood poster was designed for publicity of the film but never ended up being used.
This vintage Uphaar poster was originally designed in hand painted oil on canvas format by an art studio in Bombay and features stunning artwork.
A striking portrait of lead actress Jaya Bhaduri Bachchan is seen prominently in the foreground of this vintage Bollywood poster. The artist captures her innocent, childlike character with great accuracy. A God-like figure of India’s greatest Nobel prize winning poet, writer and philosopher, Rabindranath Tagore is illustrated in the background on the top left.
The soundtrack album of Uphaar (1971) was composed by noted music composer duo Laxmikant-Pyarelal. It featured the popular song “Main Ek Raja Hoon Tu Ek Rani Hai” sung by Mohammad Rafi.
