Aap Aye Bahaar Ayee poster for sale.
Featured here is an actual surviving old Bollywood poster of the 1971 Hindi romantic drama written, produced and directed by Mohan Kumar that starred Rajendra Kumar, Sadhana and Prem Chopra in lead roles.
Released under the MK Productions banner, Aap Aye Bahaar Ayee (1971) also starred Rajendra Nath, Bobby, Raj Mehra, Mumtaz Begum, Meena T., Kamaldeep, Madhu Apte, June, Subhash, Sarita Devi, Kodi S. Irani (Khodu Baba), Surendra, Prem Kumar, Lamba, Uma Khosla and Master Rohit in supporting roles.
Aap Aye Bahaar Ayee (1971) told the story of three childhood friends, Rajendra Kumar, Prem Chopra and Rajendra Nath who go on a trip together where they meet a beautiful woman (Sadhana). Two of them (Rajendra Kumar and Prem Chopra) fall in love with her and intend to marry her. She accepts one (Rajendra Kumar) and rejects the other (Prem Chopra), enraging the latter who deceitfully sleeps with her, making her pregnant. This sparks a war between the two friends, while the cheated woman contemplates ending her life.
Printed and circulated during a subsequent release run of the film (somewhere in the late 1970s), this Aap Aye Bahaar Ayee poster was originally designed and printed for publicity of the film in north Indian theaters but never ended up being used.
Lead couple Rajendra Kumar and Sadhana are seen in a quirky large close up illustration at the center in a romantic pose. Smaller full length hand drawn portraits of the two are seen on the top left and right respectively, taken from songs in the film. They are seen romancing each other in a beautiful garden background.
Typography used in this Rajendra Kumar poster is entirely in Devanagari Hindi, except for the title which is translated to English as well. The main Devanagari Hindi title of the film appears in yellow with a red border against a black background in a curved font.
The soundtrack album of Aap Aye Bahaar Ayee (1971) was composed by hit duo Laxmikant-Pyarelal, while lyrics were written by Anand Bakshi. It featured blockbuster unforgettable duets such as “Mujhe Teri Mohabbat Ka Sahara” and “Koyal Kyon Gaaye” sung by Mohammed Rafi & Lata Mangeshkar. Title track “Aap Aye Bahaar Ayee” and “Poochhe Jo Koi Mujhse” sung by Mohammed Rafi were also very popular along with two other duets from the film, “Tare Kitne Neel Gagan Pe Tare” sung by Mohammed Rafi & Hemlata and “Tumko Bhi To Aisa Kuchh Hota” sung by Lata Mangeshkar & Kishore Kumar.
