Adventure movie poster for sale: Chandi Sona (1977).
This is an actual surviving vintage Bollywood poster of the 1977 adventure Hindi film that starred Sanjay Khan, Parveen Babi, Premnath and Pran in prominent roles.
Produced and directed by Sanjay Khan, Chandi Sona also starred Ranjeet, Danny Denzongpa, Asrani, Paintal, Kamini Kaushal and Iftekhar in supporting roles. Raj Kapoor made a a special appearance in the film.
Printed and circulated during the first release of the film in theaters (somewhere in 1977), this original Bollywood poster was designed for publicity of the film but never ended up being used.
This adventure movie poster was originally designed in hand painted format using oil on canvas media by noted Bollywood poster designer Laxman. The printed signature of the artist is seen on the center right.
The title of the film appears at the center in stunning 3D styled typography and covers a majority of the poster. Ships caught in a stormy sea appear in an illustration above, giving away the adventure theme of the film. The three lead actors, Pran, Parveen Babi and Sanjay Khan appear below in an overpainted still photograph. They are seen holding hands and dancing together in a row in this adventure movie poster.
The background of the poster is a dark shade of blue black to give a sense that the three actors are underwater, with the sea painted above them. Raj Kapoor’s special appearance in the film is duly credited on the top. Typography used in this vintage Bollywood poster is entirely in English, with a translation of the title appearing in both Devanagari Hindi as well as in Urdu at the bottom.
The soundtrack album of Chandi Sona was composed by one of the greatest music composer’s in Indian cinema, RD Burman.
