Padmaavat poster for sale.
Featured here is an actual surviving original Bollywood poster of the old 2018 historical Hindi film co-produced and directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali that starred Deepika Padukone in the titular role as Rani Padmavati.
Released under the Viacom 18 Motion Pictures and Bhansali Productions banner, Padmaavat (2018) also starred Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor in key roles, along with Aditi Rao Hydari, Jim Sarbh, Raza Murad and Anupriya Goenka in supporting roles.
Printed and circulated ahead of the film’s first release in theaters (somewhere in 2018), this original Padmaavat poster was printed for publicity of the film but never ended up being used.
Based on the historic battle of Chittorgarh in which Islamic invader Alauddin Khilji laid an eight month siege on the fort of Chittorgarh to capture and enslave Rani Padmavati, the beautiful wife of Rajput ruler Ratan Singh. Although successful in slaughtering the Rajput army and capturing Chittor, Alauddin Khilji was unable to capture Padmavati and hundreds of other Rajput women who chose to perform jauhar (mass suicide by self immolation) rather than be enslaved by the brutal invader.
Padmaavat (2018) marked the third collaboration between Sanjay Leela Bhansali and real life couple Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh. Previously, the trio worked together on Ram-Leela (2013) and Bajirao Mastani (2015).
One of the most expensive films ever made in Indian cinema, Padmaavat (2018) was a blockbuster hit. For his stellar performance in the film, Ranveer Singh bagged Best Actor (Critics) at the 64th Filmfare Awards, making this Padmaavat poster, highly collectible!
Deepika Padukone is seen in a striking photograph at the center of this Bollywood poster with her hands folded. The actress appears wearing traditional Rajasthani jewelry weighing over six pounds, her head covered with a dupatta. Hundreds of Rajput women are seen in the background of this original Padmaavat poster.
Typography used in this Bollywood poster is primarily in English, except for a translation of the title at the bottom in Devanagari Hindi. The title appears in a stunning brass font on the top, prefixed with the tagline, “The Goddess Queen.” The initially planned release date of the film (1st December) is seen at the bottom of this Deepika Padukone poster.
The soundtrack album of Padmaavat (2018) was composed by director Sanjay Leela Bhansali himself, winning him Best Music Director at both the National Film Awards as well as the Filmfare Awards. “Khalibali” sung by Shivam Pathak & Shail Hada and “Ghoomar” sung by Shreya Ghoshal became a rage throughout the nation at the time of the film’s release, fondly remembered and played till today.
