Landscape movie posters for sale: Bazooband (1954).
This is an actual surviving original vintage Bollywood poster of the old 1954 classic black and white Hindi film written and directed by Ramanand Sagar that starred Sulochana Chatterjee and Balraj Sahni in key roles.
Bazooband (1954) was produced by Asha Biswas and released under the Variety Productions banner, with a supporting cast that included Roopmala, Anwar Hussain, Ramesh Kapoor, Baby Saroj, Om Prakash, Noreen Linford & Noor Jehan.
Printed and circulated during a subsequent theatrical release run of the film (somewhere in the 1960s), this landscape movie poster was designed for publicity of the film in northern India but never ended up being used.
This old Bazooband poster was originally designed in hand painted oil on canvas format by a Bollywood poster design studio in Delhi.
A beautiful hand drawn illustration of the lead couple Sulochana Chatterjee and Balraj Sahni is seen at the top of this vintage Bollywood poster. The actress appears playfully tugging at Balraj Sahni’s opened tie. The scene has been illustrated from the classical title track of Bazooband (1954), “Bajooband Khul Khul Jaye” sung by melody queen Lata Mangeshkar.
Supporting actor Om Prakash is seen hand drawn in a humorous illustration on the bottom right of this landscape movie poster. The background has been illustrated in a stunning shade of red. Typography used in this vintage Bazooband movie poster is primarily in English, with the title translated in Devanagari Hindi as well as Urdu on the top. The main English title stands out in red against a white background at the bottom of this old Bollywood poster.
A caricature rendition of a courtesan dancing on top of a wine glass, with a wine bottle behind it is seen on the bottom left. The illustration gives away the vice v/s virtue premise of the film.
The soundtrack album of Bazooband (1954) was composed by Mohammed Shafi, while lyrics were written by Prem Dhawan. Songs from the film, particularly the title song “Bajooband Khul Khul Jaye” and “Man Me Laagi Aag O Maalik Kya Tu Bhi Soya” sung by Lata Mangeshkar were popular at the time of the film’s release.
