Featured here is an actual surviving original Bollywood poster of the 2008 Hindi romantic comedy that starred the King of Bollywood romance, superstar Shah Rukh Khan in the lead role opposite actress Anushka Sharma in her debut role.
Written and directed by Aditya Chopra, Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi (2008) was produced by Yash Chopra and released under the banner of Yash Raj Films.
The film marked Aditya Chopra’s return to direction after an eight year hiatus, following his previous film Mohabbatein (2000). A blockbuster hit at the box office, Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi (2008) was the highest grossing film of the year in the overseas market. It became Yash Raj Films and Shahrukh Khan’s highest-grossing film at the time of its release, making this RNBDJ poster, highly collectible!
Printed and circulated during the first release of the film (somewhere in 2008), this old Bollywood poster was designed for publicity of the film in theaters but never ended up being used.
The Baadshah of Bollywood Shah Rukh Khan and debutante Anushka Sharma are seen in an iconic dancing pose in this RNBDJ poster. SRK is seen wearing formal office attire, while Anushka appears wearing a Punjabi salwar suit. An old Delhi street is seen in the background, with a scooter parked behind them. The title of the film appears in neon signage font in Devanagari Hindi, with the iconic dancing pose drawn as a caricature into the logo.
The soundtrack album of Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi (2008) was composed by duo Salim-Sulaiman. It became the first Bollywood soundtrack to reach the top ten album list in the iTunes store. Songs like “Tujh Mein Rab Dikhta Hai” and “Haule Haule” are fondly remembered and played till today. Sukhwinder Singh won the Filmfare Award for Best Male Playback Singer for the song “Haule Haule.”
