Amitabh movie poster for sale: Sanjog (1972).
Featured here is an original vintage Bollywood poster of the 1972 Hindi drama produced and directed by S.S. Balan that starred the greatest superstar in Indian cinema, Amitabh Bachchan along with Mala Sinha and Aruna Irani in key roles.
Johnny Walker, Nazir Husain, Madan Puri, Keshto Mukherjee and Ramesh Deo played supporting roles in the film. Sanjog was a remake of the Tamil film Iru Kodugal directed by K. Balachander.
Printed and circulated during the successful completion of 4 weeks of the film in theaters (somewhere in 1972), this vintage Amitabh movie poster was made for publicity of the film but never ended up being used.
This original Bollywood poster was originally designed using a combination of both hand painted as well as photographic collage techniques. The printed signature of the poster designer is present on the bottom right hand corner of this old Amitabh movie poster.
A stunning close up portrait of “One Man Industry” Amitabh Bachchan is seen on the left, covered in bright orange tint which continues from the background. He is seen wearing vintage eyeglasses and a suit. A black and white still photo of the two leading ladies, Mala Sinha and Aruna Irani appears alongside.
An announcement on the top of this Amitabh movie poster reads, “4th Week.” Typography used in this vintage Bollywood poster is entirely in Devanagari Hindi and uses a combination of black and white to stand out against the orange background. The title is seen in a catchy shade of blue, bordered in white.
The soundtrack album of Sanjog was composed by legendary music director R. D. Burman, while lyrics were composed by Anand Bakshi. Two songs from the album were memorable: “Kisi Gul Ki Yeh Kismat Hai” sung by Mohammed Rafi and “Roop Yeh Tera Jisne Banaya” sung by Kishore Kumar.
