Featured here is an actual surviving old Bollywood showcard poster of the 1983 Hindi action film directed by Pramod Chakravorty that starred the greatest superstar of Indian cinema, Amitabh Bachchan in the lead role opposite actress Hema Malini.

Produced by Vinod Doshi, Nastik (1983) also starred Pran, Raju Shrestha, Sarika, Amjad Khan, Kamal Kapoor, Nalini Jaywant, Bharat Bhushan, Deven Verma, Jayshree T., Rita Bhaduri, Viju Khote, Lalita Pawar, Tom Alter and Madan Puri in supporting roles.

Nastik (1983) was the last film to feature the hit pair of Amitabh Bachchan and Hema Malini together (who previously appeared in films such as Satte Pe Satta, Kasauti, Naseeb, Desh Premee, Gehri Chaal, Andha Kanoon and Geraftaar) before they made a comeback 20 years later in Baghban (2003).

Showcards were used as pin ups on notice boards inside foyers of cinema halls. Printed on photo paper, they were often mounted on cardboard to make them easy to display. This rare surviving showcard was actually issued to a cinema hall that screened the film Nastik, making it highly collectible!

This old Bollywood showcard features stunning hand painted artwork. Originally designed by the greatest and most expensive Bollywood poster artist of all time, Diwakar Karkare (owner of Studio Diwakar), this beautiful hand painted showcard displays his signature flair and mastery over the paint brush. Bollywood poster painter Diwakar’s printed signature is seen on the bottom left of this old Bollywood showcard.

This old hand painted Bollywood showcard features a stunning close up portrait of Amitabh Bachchan. Interestingly, his face has been painted in green. A smaller full length portrait of Amitabh appears alongside along with highly realistic portraits of Hema Malini and Pran.

The soundtrack album of Nastik (1983) was composed by Kalyanji Anandji, while lyrics were written by Anand Bakshi. It contained the hit song “Aaj Ka Yeh Din Kal Ban Jaayega Kal” by Kishore Kumar. The devotional song “Sagre Jagat Ka Ek Rakhwala” also became popular at the time of it’s release.
