This is an actual surviving original Bollywood movie poster of the 1974 Hindi comedy drama that starred the most successful playback singer in Indian cinema of all time, Kishore Kumar in the lead role. The film was directed by Kishore Kumar himself and he even composed its music.
Badhti Ka Naam Dadhi also starred Kishore Kumar’s elder brother Ashok Kumar. K.N. Singh, I.S. Johar, Rajesh Khanna, Asrani and Bindu played supporting roles in the film.
The film revolved around a hilarious plot wherein a multimillionaire decides to leave his entire wealth to the person who has the longest beard. Kishore Kumar and K.N. Singh compete against one another for the coveted prize.
Kishore Kumar is considered as one of the most versatile personalities of Bollywood – a true legend. This vintage Kishore Kumar poster was originally designed in hand painted oil on canvas format by a movie poster art studio in Delhi. The star is seen in a hilarious hand drawn avatar at the center of this Badhti Ka Naam Dadhi poster. His long beard is held by two women who appear by his side. The supporting characters of the film are seen illustrated in the background.
Set against a minimal white background, the title of the film appears in interesting typography in red encased in a yellow border at the bottom. Typography used in this Kishore Kumar poster is entirely in Devanagari Hindi.
